Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better called Ari Lennox, is an American singer and musician born in Washington, D.C., who was the first female to be signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. On the 21st of October, 2016, she released Pho, her debut EP under the Dreamville Records label. That was the day she gained her first recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It was released on May 19, 2019. Ari Lennox posted her music to the internet in 2012 after she released her five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. In 2014 she continued to share her music over the internet, including her self release single Bound. The song was included in Omen's Elephant Eyes, on Sweat It Out on the 21st of July in 2015. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew at that time and wanted her to work on Rihanna references. The 8th of December was the day she confirmed that she had been officially signed by Dreamville Records. Backseat was a track she recorded together with Cozz on the Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. In October 2016, she released her first EP, Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's hit song Change and also performed as the opening act for the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018, she performed as a guest performer on two tracks, including the EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song as well as Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th July, 2018 was the first artist to release her single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. The music video was released on September 5th. Then, on the 9th November she dropped two additional singles called 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). Two more singles were released by her on November 13 Pedigree and No One. They then teamed up in the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track entitled Shea Butter Baby on November 16, and it was released as a single on the 26th of February, 2019, for her debut album of the same name. The music video premiered on 20 February 2019 to accompany the track. Within the first time, it was viewed more than 3,000,000 views. As a supporting act, she toured in concert with 6LACK during December 2018 on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
