Kim Delaney was an American actress. She is most famous because of her part as Detective Diane Russell, in the ABC series NYPD Blue. For this she received an Emmy Award. In addition, she was a part of dramas such as All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives and CSI: Miami. Delaney is the daughter of an executive in the United Auto Workers who was also a mother. Delaney has four older brothers. In her early years she longed to be a reporter for the court. But after she graduated from high school, and moving in New York in the 1980s, she began modeling. Her first film role was as a teenage innocent in All My Children, a 1981 soap opera. Delaney has appeared in a variety of TV movies, film as well as dramas in the years since. Delaney has not lived a successful or happy personal life. The talented actress has had to deal with alcoholism throughout her life as well as two failed marriages. In 2005 her custody was taken away from her.
